 Sponsorship

Roller derby is grassroots and DIY and is funded by the skaters themselves and through fund-raising. Costs are high – the league trains for over 7 hours per week, and there are many overheads to fund such as training space, insurance, uniforms and coaching.

In addition to the day-to-day running costs, each bout costs over £2,000 to put on.  Sponsorship by local businesses is integral to ensure that the league can support the skaters and the fans to which it has become so important.

The target audience for roller derby is broad and diverse. It draws from those who enjoy physical, hard-hitting sports as well as those who seek out exciting and unique entertainment.

The interest in roller derby within the Bristol community has been overwhelming – Bristol Roller Derby regularly pulls in hundreds of people at its fundraising events and bouts, and its last “fresh meat” intake (the affectionate term used for new skaters) saw over 100 enquiries and 60 women turn up for try-outs.

Your business can be associated with a sport which is fast, fun and furious. The women who play it are athletes with a difference; they are fearless, determined and they embody female empowerment.
