I know that there is some concern over free skates while the teams etc are being sorted out.. I'm sure that many people have one their research but thought I would try and help!

Yes, Trinity do indeed do 'the odd skate session': I remember paying 15 quid for an hour's group lesson there about a year ago - this meant that every 15 minutes somebody arrived alongside you for about two minutes to answer one or two of the thousand questions that you wanted to ask. Even had to remind the organiser to give me me 5 quid change out of the 20 note I had given him.

Very central for everyone (next to the M32, St Pauls)!

Will somebody please check the availability of this venue out????

[MOD COMMENT]

I'm going to keep this thread open as a place to stick current opportunties to skate (as Terror originally intended. This is not a thread for potential venues for us to do any sort of training (open or otherwise) but rather places that have skating going on that you can go along to, and may have nothing to do with BRD itself

Unrelated to speed tests (trying to stop is enough of a challenge for me at the moment) but in keeping with the latter part of the thread...what is the deal with Thornbury? I would be really up for getting some extra skating in and I work at Aztec West so it is perfectly located! I spoke to someone at fresh meat about 2 weeks ago about it but embarrassingly forgot her name...

Who do I need to speak to about it in Thornbury as I was told it is appreciated to call/email first rather than just turning up? I was also told they don’t like people doing derby stuff – I just need to practice skating...and stopping....so should be all good!

Much appreciated :o)

Hi Sugar! It was me you spoke to! If you look up the Thornbury Skate group on Facebook and PM Alan - it's essentially a private skating group. They hire the hall for an hour and we all contribute to the cost.

The group are really friendly and used to new skaters so I'm sure it will be fine for you to come along. Myra Spindley came last night (she also works in Aztec West)

They now skate in the bowls hall which has just had a new floor laid and is LOVELY to skate on.

Get in touch and I'll see you there:-)

I can highly recommend Bath Pavilion on Monday nights 7.30 - 10.00pm (£7) having been there for the first time this evening: would have offered a lift but took a motorbike for speed through the traffic. An opportunity to skate to exhaustion, and also to witness some unbelievably brilliant skating. Floor spacious and smooth (though apparently varies greatly in character depending on what activities preceed the session).
